Six weeks. Six places. One country manor. An exclusive luxury residential programme for working butlers and graduates of the world’s leading hospitality schools, designed to deepen professional judgement, sharpen practical skills and refine the qualities that only experience, observation and advanced instruction can develop.
THE PROGRAMME
JADE Butler Academy is not a beginning. It is a return to the fundamentals of a vanishing craft, taught with the intimacy that only a small luxury residency can offer. Our advanced programme presumes the mechanics; we teach the interior.
In our eighteenth-century Manor in Noues de Sienne in Normandy, France, six professionals live with their instructors for forty-two days. Mornings are devoted to theory and protocol. Afternoons are spent on practical exercises. Evenings combine advanced cooking classes with the observed dinner, where every detail of preparation, service, movement, and presentation is quietly noted.
The JADE graduate is not merely competent. They are regarded as a consummate professional, a person of taste, judgement and near invisible authority, fully prepared to serve at the highest level in the finest households in the world.

The Curriculum
Each week is a self-contained mastery, with daily cooking classes and a formal observed service every Saturday before the principal instructor and a rotating guests of honour. All training is conducted in English.
Week
Deportment, protocol and the silent choreography of the private household.

Silver service, wine stewardship and the art of the formal multi course dinner.

Valeting, wardrobe management, principal travel and service across multiple residences.

Discretion, technology, security awareness and the governance of a contemporary private household.
Week
Practical cookery, cellar command and the dinner executed under pressure before the principal instructor.

A full household season compressed into one week, culminating in the diploma service before the principal instructors and a guest of honour.

SENIOR TRAINER - 20 YEARS IN PRIVATE SERVICE
Master of Service; he brings seasoned judgement, exacting standards and a profound understanding of discreet and highly personal service.
SENIOR TRAINER - 13 YEARS IN PRIVATE SERVICE
Professional actress with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from the University of Hong Kong, specialising in presentation & body language.
JUNIOR BUTLER - 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PRIVATE SERVICE
A true gem to have in any household, looking after the family, guests, and property with much love and care. Professionally trained by our own staff.
WHY JADE BUTLER ACADEMY?
Four master trainers, one house butler, six residents, forty-two days in one manor. What that makes possible is the whole argument.
Master instructors
Four working masters with forty-five, eleven, twenty and thirteen years in private service, who coach you personally throughout your stay.
A residency of six
Six places per training. Uniquely, instruction is adjusted to each and every individual resident, and never delivered to a room.
Service that is observed
Every evening closes with a dinner served under observation. Nothing is simulated, and nothing is graded on paper alone.
A diploma with weight
The Master Butler Diploma, presented before a guest of honour, followed by principal presentation.
THE ENROLMENT
Admission is by private interview. We accept six residents per programme, drawn from those with a minimum of three years in service or a diploma from a recognised school.
A brief written note stating your experience, current post, and reason for seeking the residency.
A one-hour private conversation with the Principal, in person at the manor or by encrypted video.
Two references from prior principals or the Head of a recognised school.
Upon acceptance, a place is held with the enrolment deposit. Full tuition includes lodging, wardrobe, and all instruction.

Tuition & fees
Tuition includes single-bedroom accommodation at Ashford Manor, full board, wardrobe fittings, all course materials, and the Master Butler Diploma. Travel to Noues de Sienne, France, is arranged independently. Convenient train connections are available nearby, with collection arranged from the station where our house butler will pick you up. Participation in the programme is by interview only, with discretion assured. Programme dates, available places, fees and further details are subject to confirmation from our office. All classes are in English.
